The first mobile phone to feature an 8MP camera will be available in the UK early September 2008
The Samsung i8510 packs a host of snapping features including smile shot, which automatically takes a shot when your subject grins, multi shot and face recognition. Media content can be stored in the 8GB internal memory, or if that doesn’t prove to be enough, the external memory slot is capable of holding up to an additional 16GB.
However, it’s not just the camera functionality that makes the Samsung i8510 stand out from the crowd. With both HSDPA and Wi-Fi connection, users are promised a PC-like browsing experience thanks to the optical mouse and four-way navigation key. Navigation is also at the core of the device with built-in A-GPS technology providing routing, mapping and geo-tagging.
With external dual speakers providing a 3D surround sound and a 3.5mm jack port, users should be treated to a cracking audio experience whether listening to their music or watching the video player that supports DivX, WMV, Real Player and MPEG4 formats.
The announcement of the Samsung i8510 which will be exclusive to The Carphone Warehouse, is sure to irk Sony Ericsson who recently announced their own eight-megapixel camera phone in the shape of the C905, though that won’t be available until Q4 of this year.
